This workshop aims to provide an initial contact with indigenous philosophical thought, which is generally unknown in most academic circles. We want to show that indigenous philosophy is diametrically distinct from Western philosophy and can indicate a path to healing our society and our planet from the disease called “anthropocene”. Our workshop will be inspired mainly by the book “Ancestral Future” by Ailton Krenak, but will involve insights from other philosophers, including academics such as biomathematician Robert Rosen and philosopher of science Paul Feyerabend. The concepts explored are connected to the notions of decolonization and degrowth as means of enhancing ecology, empathy and collectivity. Academic and photographic books will be used, as well as images in the presentation slides, to better exemplify the theme of the workshop. The workshop will be held in English and is open to anyone interested in participating in the debate about the future from a perspective that is not based on Western culture.
